Parking Information

No parking is allowed overnight in the downtown area from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. year round.

There is no parking allowed on any city street or alley during the winter months of November 1st through March 31st between the hours of 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

For convenience, a locked drop box is located in the front entrance of City Hall to accept utility payments and general city correspondence during
non-business hours.

Building Inspection

No structure, fence or sign may be erected, converted, enlarged, moved, demolished, reconstructed or altered without first obtaining a Permit, and no structure or land may be used for any purpose nor in any manner which is not in conformity with the provisions of City Ordinance. The Building Inspector will issue a Permit only after determining that the building plans, together with the application, comply with City Ordinance. If the Building Code does not require a Building Permit, a Permit must still be obtained to ensure compliance with setback, height and use restrictions and City Ordinance.

Building permits are required for any new construction, remodeling, building relocation, siding, roofing, driveways, signs, decks and fences. More information is available in the city ordinances found here.

Building permit applications are available at City Hall. The permit fee shall be based on the valuation of the project determined by the Building Inspector. All permits are issued by the Building Inspector, Nancy Scott, who meets by appointment. To schedule an appointment contact Nancy @ 320-293-5298.

Rental Property Licensing

According to the City of Foley Rental Ordinance Section 730, no person shall occupy, allow to be occupied, or let to another for occupancy any dwelling unit in the City of Foley for which a license has not been properly issued. All rental properties are required to have a rental license which includes successfully completing a bi-annual inspection. No property may be rented without first having obtained the license. A completed application should be submitted to the City along with the required licesning and inspection fees. Upon receipt of the completed application and required fees the City Housing Inspector will contact the applicant to arrange a time for inspection of the property. Additionally, per City Ordinance Section 735 - Crime Free Rental Housing Program, at least one operator of each rental property shall obtain certification in the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program, administered by any Minnesota law enforccement agency certified by the ICFA.
